Tour Overview
Mystic has long inspired artists, makers and creative minds drawn to the beauty of the harbor, historic streets and coastal light. But art in Mystic goes far beyond paintings hanging on gallery walls. Here, creativity can be found in handcrafted jewelry, traditional knot tying, handmade pewter, artisan chocolate, maritime craftsmanship and beautifully painted functional works of art.
The Mystic Art & Inspiration Walk is a relaxed guided experience that explores downtown Mystic through the lens of creativity in all its forms. Along the way, guests discover how artistry shapes the identity of this historic coastal village through galleries, artisan shops, maritime traditions and handcrafted goods made by local makers and craftspeople.
Beginning at scenic Mystic River Park, the tour introduces guests to Mystic’s thriving creative community before visiting a variety of artistic spaces throughout downtown. Stops may include traditional galleries, artisan studios, handcrafted maritime shops, locally made jewelry and knotwork, hand-painted Polish stoneware, pewter craftsmanship and even the artistry behind small-batch chocolate making.
Guests will explore places like Studio M Art Gallery & Framing, Mystic Knotwork, Danforth Pewter, Manufaktura, Mystic Chocolate and additional creative spaces that showcase the incredible talent and craftsmanship found throughout the village. Along the way, your guide shares stories about Mystic’s artistic evolution, the maritime inspiration behind much of the local artwork and the makers who continue to keep these traditions alive today.
The experience concludes at the Mystic Museum of Art, one of the region’s most celebrated cultural institutions, where guests can continue exploring exhibitions while reflecting on the many forms of creativity discovered throughout the walk.
Whether you’re an art lover, creative traveler, photographer or simply someone who enjoys discovering the handmade and artistic side of a destination, this tour offers a thoughtful, inspiring and uniquely local way to experience Mystic.
