Tour Safety & Accessibility Information

At Mystic Experience Co, the safety and comfort of our guests are very important to us. Our goal is to create welcoming experiences that allow visitors to enjoy the charm, history and beauty of Mystic while feeling informed and prepared.

Because many of our experiences take place outdoors in a historic coastal town and in public spaces, guests should be aware of certain conditions before participating.

This page provides helpful information about safety, accessibility and physical expectations for our services.

Walking Tour Safety

Guided walking tours take place outdoors in downtown Mystic and surrounding areas. Tours follow public sidewalks, streets and pedestrian pathways.

Guests should expect typical conditions found in a historic New England town, including:

• uneven sidewalks or pavement in some areas
• occasional stairs or curb transitions
• historic streets and pathways
• crowded areas during busy tourism seasons
• normal street traffic when crossing roads

While our guides take care to lead groups safely, guests are responsible for remaining aware of their surroundings and walking carefully during the tour.

Walking Distance and Physical Activity

Most guided tours cover approximately 1 to 2 miles of walking over the course of the experience.

The pace is relaxed, with frequent stops for storytelling, photos and conversation.

Guests should be comfortable walking and standing for periods of time.

We recommend wearing:

• comfortable walking shoes
• weather-appropriate clothing
• sunscreen or hats during warm weather
• jackets during cooler months

Accessibility Considerations

Mystic is a historic coastal town, and some areas may present accessibility challenges.

Depending on the tour route, guests may encounter:

• uneven sidewalks or brick walkways
• stairs or curb transitions
• historic streets and narrow pathways
• areas without wheelchair ramps

While we do our best to design routes that are comfortable for most visitors, accessibility may vary depending on the specific tour.

Guests with mobility concerns are encouraged to contact us prior to booking so we can help determine whether a particular tour may be suitable.

Self-Guided Tour Safety

Guests participating in self-guided tours explore Mystic independently using the mobile tour app.

Participants should always:

• follow pedestrian signals and traffic laws
• remain aware of surrounding vehicles and cyclists
• stay on public sidewalks and designated walkways
• exercise caution when crossing streets

Mystic Experience Co does not supervise participants during self-guided tours. Guests are responsible for their own safety while using self-guided experiences.

Weather and Outdoor Conditions

Mystic is a coastal New England town and weather conditions can change quickly.

Our tours generally operate rain or shine, and light rain is often part of the experience.

Guests should be prepared for seasonal weather conditions, including:

• warm summer temperatures
• cooler waterfront breezes
• occasional rain showers
• cooler evenings in spring and fall

Tours may be cancelled or rescheduled in the event of hazardous weather conditions such as lightning or severe storms.

Alcohol Safety

The Mystic Moonlight Social Tour includes visits to establishments that serve alcoholic beverages.

Guests should drink responsibly and follow the rules of each participating venue.

Please note:

• valid identification is required to purchase alcohol
• establishments may refuse alcohol service
• guests should drink responsibly throughout the experience

Mystic Experience Co is not responsible for alcohol consumption decisions made by guests.

Families and Children

Most tours are family friendly and children are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising children throughout the tour.

Children should remain with their group and follow the guide’s instructions when navigating streets or busy areas.

Service Animals

Service animals trained to assist individuals with disabilities are welcome on tours.

Guests planning to bring a service animal are encouraged to notify us in advance so we can help ensure a comfortable experience.

Transportation and Transfers

As part of our destination management and trip planning services, Mystic Experience Co may assist visitors with transportation arrangements.

This may include coordinating transfers to and from:

• T. F. Green Airport
• Bradley International Airport
• Mystic Amtrak Station
• New London Union Station

Transportation services are typically provided through trusted local transportation providers.

Guests should contact us in advance if they require assistance arranging transportation.

Health and Personal Needs

Guests should consider their own comfort and physical abilities before participating in a walking tour.

If you have concerns related to mobility, medical conditions or accessibility needs, please contact us before booking and we will gladly discuss the best options for your visit.
